Creating Company Logos For Construction Companies

The construction sector is growing more and more competitive. Larger organizations handle the bigger development jobs while smaller and newer ones must display their quality with various subcontracts before moving on to larger projects.

My design company has just been tabled an assignment to create a new logo examples for a local construction organization. To get things going, the art director and I made a visit to our client’s office for a short interview to gather more information about the company.

Like many others we have questioned, most companies recognize they need a new image to help them compete but are not really sure what they want. That is where we come into play.

Before starting on the logo design, we commonly inquire about the company history, its turnover, its goals, its specialty, its target market and exactly why it wants a new logo samples; just to get a better feel of things.

We found out that they are a relatively young company, 8 years in the business with 4 big subcontract projects and many minor ones under their belts, each one more impressive than the last. They are now moving to adopt a blue ocean strategy and progress into eco-friendly medium cost suburban development – a niche with a low number of competitors – and thus taking the opportunity to make a name for themselves as one of the few companies to service this niche.

From the meeting, we can gather that they have the required resources to take on medium scale development projects. Their chosen niche has rendered it much easier to differentiate them from other developers.

At our studio, we had a little brainstorming session and charted our art direction. From there we designated 4 designers to produce individual interpretations or construction company logo design to turn those ideas to logo designs.

After a couple of days, the creatives were ready for show. Some designs employed the use of stylized text while others utilized construction related graphics like levelers and trowels to get the point across. Though all four logo samples samples were unique in their own way, they all adhered to two major points.

Professionalism
Developers deal with costly projects. As a prerequisite to be awarded such projects, they must always be viewed as a professional and responsible corporate citizen with admirable business ethics. Subsequently, the neat and clear designs reflected that appropriately.

Eco-Friendliness
This is the niche this firm is determined to penetrate. Needless to say, the designs, either by color or graphics, expresses the company’s dedication to the preservation of the environment.

Finally it is up to our clients to make a decision on the designs. However they could certainly make minor alterations but as professional designers, we must make sure the design in the end keeps to the key points noted earlier.
